About Kovachi Wheels
The Art
The act of building wheels isn't what's so special. It's the approach a true craftsman takes that makes his hand-built wheels far superior to any built by machine. Kovachi Wheels aren't put on a machine, taken off and trued for a few seconds, then placed into inventory to wait for the next customer. They are built to each customer's unique specification after learning that customer's needs, riding demands, and product preference.
Kovachi Wheels takes the time to do all the things no machine can and no factory will do.
Background
John Kovachi's passion for cycling started in the mid 1970's when he started competing in BMX events. Eventually this passion led him to a national championship. Simultaneously John started working in a local bike store where he met a master wheel building craftsman; that's where his love of wheel building first started.
Through the 1980's he developed his talent by accepting the most challenging wheel projects. Top riders began to request John's wheels and craftsmanship. Due to the contacts made during his racing career many top professionals in BMX and mountain bike began to use his service.
